The D-CATTM Technology
The D-CATTM Technology is successfully used for elimination of high concentrations of ammonia and/or other odor emissions, such as a wide range of nitrogen and sulfur containing compounds. The catalyst formulation is developed to ensure very high selectivity (>99%) towards the formation of harmless nitrogen gas (N2). The process is run without any simultaneous formation of harmful nitrogen oxides (NOx), which normally are produced if a conventional oxidation catalyst is used.
The D-CATTM Technology has also been used successfully for removal of NOx , ethylene oxide and simultaneous combustion of mixtures of ammonia and hydrogen.
Application of the catalyst in the form of a robust mesh leads to several techno-economic advantages. From the chemical standpoint the turbulence induced causes rapid heat and mass transfer, leading in turn to much smaller catalyst volumes and reactor sizes. The design also allow defined temperature profiles to be used.
In addition, pressure drop are lower, and the simplicity and compactness of the reactors lead to much reduced plant size and weight and allow for installation in confined spaces.
